“Influenster is a place for culture junkies to come together and share their unique opinions of products and experiences. One of the items in the Spring VoxBox was the Kandy Bar Kake from Tastykake (www.tastykake.com). Here’s what the Influenster site has to say about this product:
Kandy Bar Kakes are the best of both worlds. Light and fluffy chocolate-enrobed cakes come in a unique kandy bar shape with a delicious créme filling made with your favorite candy flavors. Available in S’mores, Peppermint, and Peanut Butter flavor. Available at grocery and convenience stores across America.
Single Serve – $1.69, Family Pack – $4.49
I was able to try the Peanut Butter variety, which uses real Reese’s peanut butter. It tastes like a snack-sized piece of chocolate cake! It’s not as dry as packaged cake snacks can sometimes be, so I was pleasantly surprised by the actual cake part. I couldn’t really taste the peanut butter flavor, though, so that was a little disappointing. The texture of the peanut butter filling was very similar to a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup: somewhat dry and crumbly. I don’t mind that texture in the peanut butter cup, but in combination with the cake, I think I would have preferred a smoother consistency to balance out the overall texture.
If I had to give this product a grade, I would give it a solid B. I enjoyed eating it, and Tastykake definitely made an effort – but there is room for improvement. This is the kind of snack that I would help myself to if someone else had purchased a whole box to share with others, but I don’t know if I would buy a whole box of these for myself.
